About 1 in 8 US women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. In 2019, an estimated 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the US, along with 62,930 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.

October is National Breast Cancer awareness month, and we at Summit Medicine and Pediatrics take the opportunity to educate and empower women to  identify as early as possible and fight the disease when it occurs. We encourage women to perform monthly self breast examinations, and to obtain routine screening mammograms on an annual basis, beginning at the at the appropriate age.

In the state of Arizona and in the spirit of strong participation in the fight against breast cancer, SimonMed Imaging is offering discounted (possibly free) screening mammograms to all eligible women who are either uninsured or underinsured during the month of October.  Click on their link above for more information, or call them directly at 480-264-4900  for more information and to schedule your mammogram.
